Three months ago, I reopened the doors to Eclectic Gift Shop and started welcoming you all back. Things definitely haven’t gone back to ‘normal’ but I’m embracing those changes. We’re all changed by the events of 2020. I hear so many stories every single day about life during lockdown and what’s changed and still changing. No two stories are the same. My job is to listen and I enjoy being a part of a community and being able to do that. Somehow we all seem more alert, more aware of how we’re spending our time and what’s important to us....

25 years ago, I visited the ship for the very first time...

On this day 50 years ago, the SS Great Britain came home to its final resting place in Bristol’s dry docks. 25 years ago, I visited the ship for the very first time. The home movie below shows some of that day. I still remember it well; being amazed by the cramp living quarters and imagining everyone in tight spaces. Former grand rooms in disrepair and decay, hinting at an opulent past. Who might have dined there and where did they travel? So many hidden stories. So many achievements, so many dreams and struggles. The ship has changed so much...

Five Years Ago...

Five years ago, I was at Glastonbury Festival enjoying the music, sunshine, rain and all the quirkiness of the event with my sister and a lifelong friend of ours, Emily. I've been enjoying some of the coverage this weekend and thinking about my time there. 
We've all been reflecting a lot during lockdown about how life has changed, where we are, what we have, what we'd like to do next.
